Hobart E. "Hobie" Wheatley's Obituary
Hobart E. “Hobie” Wheatley passed away on Friday, November 25, 2011 at his home in Federalsburg. He was 81.
He was born on January 20, 1930 in Federalsburg, Maryland, son of the late Hobart E. Wheatley, Sr. and Agnes White Wheatley.
He was married to the former Esther Elizabeth Dukes who preceded him in death on March 4, 2000. He worked for E.I. Dupont in Seaford as an operator for 38 years and later worked for the Town of Federalsburg. He coached little and senior league baseball, enjoyed fishing, farming, gardening, and was a member of the Federalsburg Vol. Fire Company for more than 35 years.
He is survived by four sons, Keith R. Wheatley and his wife Ellen of Seaford, DE, R. Kevin Wheatley and his wife, Patti, of Federalsburg, Jeffrey S. Wheatley and his wife Sandy of Hurlock, MD, Jerry S. Wheatley of Seaford, DE, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil Wheatley, Norris Wheatley, and Melvin Wheatley, and two sisters, Mary Ruth Bennett and Hazel Meredith.
A funeral service will be on Monday, November 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with the Reverend Denzil T. Cheek officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in Federalsburg. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
