Horace Asbury Williams, Jr.'s Obituary
Horace A. Williams, Jr. passed away peacefully at home on Thursday September 5, 2024. He was 82.
Born on November 21, 1941 in Bridgeville, DE; he was the son of the late Horace Williams Sr. and Reecie L. Smith- Williams. He grew up in Bridgeville and was a proud member of the Bridgeville Mustangs Football Team, and Bridgeville High School. Following his Graduation, he entered the US Army and was a proud American.
Following his Honorable Discharge from active duty he returned to Bridgeville where he Joined the National Guard. During his early civilian years, he worked for the General Food Corp. until finding a career job as a Route Salesman for Rapa Scrapple...where he enjoyed taking care of his customers for over thirty years. Mr. Williams also loved helping his parents with the operation of Scotts Country Store. Mr. Williams enjoyed his retirement years and stayed in touch with many of his High School Classmates, and had a special bond with them. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Junior had many passions including playing softball, shooting pool, playing cards, picking football games against his best friend Dale Brown and taking money from whoever wanted to play a friendly game of Croquet.
In addition to his beloved wife of 57 years Janet O'Day Williams, he is survived by three sons; Troy Perry of Greenwood, Danny Perry of Seaford, and Horace Asbury Williams III (Terrie) of Bridgeville. One sister; Sarah Peterman (Pete) of Greenwood, five Grandchildren; Kurt Hastings, Horace Asbury Williams IV, Dana Perry, Chad Perry, and Bradley Mark Williams. Five Great-grandchildren; Kamden, Ryan, Horace V, Karter, and Kash, and one sister-In Law Beverly Williams.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Randy Perry, a brother Dennis L Williams, a sister Karen McEntire, and one grandson Josh Williams.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday September 10. 2024 at the Framptom Funeral Home-Fleischauer Chapel Greenwood, DE where a viewing will be held from 11:00 until 1:00.
Burial will be in the Bridgeville Cemetery.
