Loretta Sharp Mccray
To the Hooper Family: My heartfelt condolences to you all. Mrs. Iris (or Iris, as she allowed us to call her) was an icon in the community. Her laughter, her quick-wit bring back such fond memories of my youth. I am reminded of a popular line of a song which says “If Anyone Could Ever Write My Life Story...”. Well A part of my life’s story as a teen was almost every Friday and/or Saturday night was hanging out at the Hooper’s. The music, the singing, the laughter, and the hilarious jokes were wonderful times! Iris and and her husband Haywood seemed to understand “young” people. To Ralph (my classmate), Ambia, Carolyn, Dit, and the rest of the Hooper family, I send you my love and prayers. Your mother was a gem!
