Isabelle B. Thamert
Neavitt., Isabelle “Belle” Thamert of Neavitt, MD. died at the Memorial Hospital, Easton, surrounded by her sons and family on Thursday, February 9, 2012. She was 82.
Born on June 26, 1929 in Neavitt, MD. she was the daughter of the late John William “Dick” Ball and Betsy Camper Ball. After graduating from St. Michaels High School in 1946 she married her high school sweetheart, George Carroll Thamert, Sr. who was also born on June 26 but in the year 1926. For the next 64 years she was his constant companion, art critic, and best friend, until his death in 2010.
Mrs. Thamert or “Belle” as she was known to her friends was “self employed” in one of the most demanding but important “Jobs” there was, a full time Homemaker & Mother. She loved to cook, always asking anyone who came to her home if “they wanted more to eat”. Her mashed potatoes and crab cakes were loved by four generations of Thamerts. Her made from scratch hot milk caramel and apple cakes could be found at many birthday celebrations, fireman carnivals, or church bazaars.
Mrs. Thamert was a member of the Neavitt United Methodist Church. Her faith in God, Christ, and prayer was evident everyday of her life.
Mrs. Thamert is survived by two sons; G. Carroll Thamert, Jr. and his wife Bobbie of Salisbury, MD; John Bertley “Bert” Thamert of Neavitt, MD. three grandchildren; Jeffery Carroll Thamert and his wife Amy of Salisbury, MD; Katie Lynn Thamert of Elkridge, MD; and Samuel Jacob Thamert of Easton, MD; two great-grandchildren; “The Twins”, Kailey Brook Thamert and Caleb Bryan Thamert of Salisbury, MD; her constant companion of 14 years “Freckles”. She is also survived by her sister; Catherine Dyott of St. Michaels, MD; and her sister-in-law Hope Thamert of Georgia, in addition to her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins. Belle has three very close friends that she grew up with that also survive her; Phyllis Evans, Nancy Higgins, and Neil Cheezum. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers; Joseph Ball, Johnny Ball, Tilghman Ball, and James Ball and by three sisters; Lillian North, and two others that died during infancy, and her beloved daughter-in-law Carol Thamert.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM at the Neavitt United Methodist Church on Thursday, February 16, 2010. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8:00PM at the Hurley & Ostrowski Funeral Home P.A. St. Michaels, MD; and again at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the service.
