J.Kemp "Jr." Todd's Obituary
J. Kemp Todd, “Jr.” of Federalsburg, MD passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. He was 79.
He was born on July 29, 1937 in Caroline County, the son of the late James Kemp Todd, Sr. “Kemp” and Mildred Meredith Todd. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Marine Todd on February 27, 2002.
He graduated from Federalsburg High School with the class of 1955. He was a grain farmer and truly enjoyed every aspect of farming. Kemp was devoted to every organization he was a part of over the years. His memberships included: a lifetime member of the Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Company where he served as past chief, assistant chief, served on the ambulance crew, the Idlewild Ruritans Club, where he was a member for 21 years, serving as past president, past director, devoted chairman of many committees, and had been awarded Ruritan of the Year, the Thresherman’s Association, First State Antique Tractor Club, and the Federalsburg Historical Society. Kemp was a member of Chestnut Grove Church and served as director of the Chestnut Grove Community Association.
He is survived by three daughters, Donna Blanchfield and her husband Stevie of Federalsburg, Joy Lederer and her partner, Pam of Easton, Sheri Todd of Federalsburg, 9 grandchildren, Jimmy Todd and his wife, Jaclyn, Candy Lankford, Connie Dusock, Earl Wilson, Jr., Meredith Wilson, J.C. Dusock, Ryan Blanchfield, Tiffany Dove, Todd Wilson, 6 great-grandchildren, his sister, Norma Lee French of Dover, and a special friend, Peggy Culhane of Federalsburg. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Todd, a sister, Geneva Schmick, and a brother, William Todd.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 12 noon at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating and will be followed with a Fireman’s Memorial Tribute. A visitation with the family will be held on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. and from 11 a.m. – 12 noon on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
