Jack was the Superintendent of the NRP when I became the Director of the park service in 1990. I was also a law enforcement chief, new to that role, and tasked with partnering with the NRP in whatever ways we could find. Jack was a true gentleman, honorable, and professional in every way. I was new in that role and Jack helped me navigate the odd pressures upon each of us. I admired him, appreciated his style and old fashioned honesty. It was a pleasure to work with Jack and learn from him. He was a true conservation law enforcement officer of the highest order.
My sympathy to his entire family. I am proud to have known Jack.
While I never personally knew Jack, I worked alongside his son Ralph for several years and heard many stories about Jack through Ralph (Termite). Jack's reputation was also well known in my circle of friends. May God's loving arms comfort all of Jack's loved ones and friends in the tough days ahead.

Jack and Shirley will always hold a very special place in my heart! The best neighbors!!!!
🙏🙏 Our thoughts and prayers are with Col. Taylor's family. Col. Taylor was a good friend, co-worker, boss, and mentor since he hired me in 1974 to begin my career with the Maryland Natural Resources Police. RIP Col. Taylor, you will be missed by all.
