Jacob Green, Sr.'s Obituary
Jacob Green, Sr. of Hurlock, MD, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007 at the Coastal Hospice At The Lake in Salisbury, MD. He was 83 years old.
He was born April 10, 1924 in Sommerville, SC, the son of the late Richard and Jannie Lee Green.
He was a supervisor at Harper–Bateman Pickle Plant and retired after 25 years of service from the B&G Pickle Company. He was a good provider and family man, who did many good deeds including feeding and clothing many in need, and in helping others in household chores. He enjoyed fishing and playing dominoes.
He is survived by 4 children, Joe Louis Ancrum of Vera Beach, FL, Eva M. Smith of Hurlock, Jacob Green, Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, of Rhodesdale, Evyonne G. Ramirez and her husband, Mario, of Hurlock; 10 grandchildren, including a devoted granddaughter, Angel Jenkins, and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was the oldest of 9 siblings, Bernice Aiken, Estella Lee, Carrie Lee Simmons, Joe Jennings, and Ernest Jennings all of Lincolnville, SC, James Green of Jacksonville, FL, Ruth Smith, Charles Green, and Lucious Jennings, all of Brooklyn, NY, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verdell Ancrum Green who died on Sept. 26, 1990, four grandchildren, Rassada Green, Teresa Green, Terry Ramirez, Tiffany Green, and a great-grandson, Michael Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Timothy Farmer Memorial Church of God in Christ in Jonestown, near Preston, MD with Elder Cleon Deal, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Federal Hill Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m.
