James Clifton Haddaway's Obituary
James Clifton Haddaway, of Tilghman, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2017 at UMSMC at Dorchester in Cambridge at the age of 91.
“Cliff Paul” as he was fondly known as was born on May 23, 1925 in Oxford, MD, the son of the late Paul E. Haddaway and Sadie V. Bromwell Haddaway. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah R. Keiffer Haddaway on May 24, 2014.
Cliff Paul graduated from St. Michaels High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Starting with the military he became a mechanic and continued his career as a machinist for majority of his life and retired from Black & Decker. He was also an insurance agent for Metropolitan Life. He loved the water and was a true blooded waterman.
He attended Tilghman United Methodist Church where he had served as a Sunday School Teacher for a number of years. Cliff Paul was a lifetime member of the Tilghman Volunteer Fire Company with 75 years of faithful service. He was also a member of Seaford Moose Lodge, the American Legion in Easton, and Ducks Unlimited. His hobbies including anything to do with woodworking including crafting minature decoys, model boats, and building workboats with his father. Cliff Paul was truly a gentleman and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his daughter, Virginia H. Tyler and her husband, Edward David Tyler of Preston, a grandson, David Tyler, Jr. and his wife Autumn and their children, Ian and Sara, all of Easton, and cousins, Paul R. Haddaway and his wife, Susan of Easton, and Virginia H. Tyler of Grasonville. He was also preceded in death by a son, Clifton Paul Haddaway and two sisters, Alice Mae Montone and Olive Ball.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Tilghman United Methodist Church with Rev. Everett Landon and Rev. Fred Bahr officiating. A viewing will be held from 12-1 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
