James McConnell's Obituary
James Richard McConnell of Federalsburg passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at his home. He was 82 years old.
He was born July 9, 1925 in Chester, PA, the son of the late Dr. Dufferin McConnell and Katherine Kingan McConnell.
He graduated from Federalsburg High School in 1942 and attended Goldey Business School in Wilmington, DE. Mr. McConnell owned and operated McConnell’s Fun Food in Denton, MD, retiring in 1987. After his retirement, he was actively involved in his family real estate business. He was a member of Nanticoke Lodge #172 A.F. & A.M. for over fifty years.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Dorothy Truitt McConnell whom he married on June 29, 1945, a daughter, Mary Katherine McConnell Lewis and her husband W. Keith, a granddaughter, Lisa Lewis, three grandsons, Dr. Lindy Ladd Lewis, Brian K. Lewis, and James T. “Bud” Lewis (Taffie), a great-granddaughter, Charlotte McConnell Lewis all of Federalsburg, two brothers, Robert E. McConnell of Choptank, MD, and John H. McConnell of Federalsburg, and several nephews and nieces. A sister, Nancy McConnell Prouse, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held on Sat. July 5, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home with Rev. Harrel Pitsenbarger officiating. A Masonic service will be held at 12:45 p.m. Burial will be private. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
