James Curtis Parker Sr.'s Obituary
James Curtis Parker, Sr., known fondly as “Jimmy” passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at his home. He was 58.
He was born on May 16, 1955 in Caroline County, the son of Charles Parker, Jr. of Federalsburg and the late Eleanor Emily Brummell Parker.
He graduated from Colonel Richardson High School class of 1974. He served his country enlisting in the United States Navy being aboard the John F. Kennedy Aircraft Carrier. He worked for 28 years for Caroline County Public Works as a mechanic specialist and was a member of Farmers Memorial Church in Jonestown, MD since childhood. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 77 in Easton. Jimmy was an avid lover of Corvettes and owning his own was his pride and joy. He had a great passion for working on vehicles, loved NASCAR, the NHRA, traveling, taking pictures, and was a die-hard Washington Redskins fan.
Besides his father, he is survived by his wife, Ingrid Farrow Parker, three daughters, Janelle I. Parker of Glen Burnie, Jerisha C. Parker-Gordon and her husband, David of Newark, DE, Deeidria Y. Parker Huffman and her husband, Rick, of Seaford, DE, a son, James C. “Jay” Parker, Jr. and his wife, Tiarra of Washington, D.C., seven grandchildren, Jayson, Jaylen, Jayda, Jaevon, Madison, Davey and Dorsey, three sisters, Valerie A. Parker of Upper Marlboro, MD, Maria C. Parker-Brooks and her husband, James of Jonesboro, GA, Regina E. Parker-Maturo and her husband, Anthony of Demorest, GA, his mother-in-law, Mary E. Farrow of Hurlock, brother and sister-in-laws, two cousins who were like his little sister and brother, Kathy Parker Young and Marlon Parker, a Navy buddy from his hometown who he considered a brother, Greg Prattis and his wife Ruth of Norfolk, VA, best friends, Gail Dockins and Alvin Berdaux, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and the entire Caroline County Public Works family, not to mention the neighborhood dogs, Buddy and Lily. He was preceded in death by his brother, Allen C. Parker and his sister, Shirley Y. Parker.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Hurlock United Methodist Church at 12 noon. A visitation will be held at the church from 4-8 p.m. on Friday the 29th and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock, MD, on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
