James Edward Price's Obituary
James Edward Price, of near Oxford, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 18, 2016, after a seven year battle with cancer.
Born in Easton, on April 21, 1943, Jim was the son of the late Lloyd Frampton and Constance McDonald Price of Choptank, MD.
He graduated from Preston High School in 1961 and attended Strayer Business College in Baltimore.
He married the former Henrietta Hudson on July 25, 1975. In the late 1980s Jim created two non-profit organizations , Chesapeake Bay Acid Rain Foundation and Chesapeake Ecological Foundation. Jim was well known as a “citizen scientist†to professionals in the field. With his love of the bay, Jim was driven to diligently record and provide information in regards to striped bass and menhaden. After working 16 years at Easton Regional Laboratory of the State Highway Administration he opened Delmarva Jewelers, in Easton, which he operated for 30 years. In the 1990’s he also had a charter boat license, specializing in light tackle striped bass fishing. He was a life member of the Coastal Conservation Association and a member of the Maryland Salt Water Fisherman’s Association. He received recognition from the Coastal Conservation with an award and a certificate of appreciation from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources in 2012.
Jim is survived by his wife, Henrietta, his brother Randy Price, of Choptank, three step-children, Gerald Fields (Brenda) of Columbia, MD, Brenton Fields (Kathleen) of Savannah, GA, and Lorraine McCool (Robert) of Kokomo, IN, six step-grandchildren, and a step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at St. Marks United Methodist Church in Easton at 2 p.m. A visitation with the family will be held from 1-2 p.m. Burial will be private.
