James Floyd Startt Jr's Obituary
James F. “Jimmy” Startt, Jr. age 76, of Preston, Army Veteran, Master Welder, Private Pilot, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend, departed this life suddenly, Wednesday, August 12, 2015.
He was born in Easton on August 1, 1939 and was a son of the late James F. Startt, Sr. and Virginia L. Startt Wessells.
Jimmy lived a life full of excitement, adventure, and love. In July of 1957, Jimmy entered the United States Army, where he was stationed in Europe. After the Army, he moved to Germany where he was in the Merchant Marines and later worked as an apprentice, learning his main profession as a welder. While in Germany he met the loved of his life, Jeanne Sikorski, whom he married on September 20, 1963. He was an incredibly smart man who above being a world class welder, knew how to fly airplanes. Jimmy loved motorcycles and cherished boating on the Choptank River with his friends and family. He was a devoted member of the Easton Elks Lodge and served twice as Exalted Ruler. There was nothing he couldn’t do when he set his mind to it. Those who knew him knew that he was a genius in many ways, his wisdom and sense of humor will truly be missed by all. Jimmy’s ultimate greatest success in life was his family; he took great pride in them and loved sharing that to everyone he came in contact with. Above all, he will be remembered for his loyalty, honesty, intelligence, humor and dedication to his family and friends. He was truly one of a kind and will be missed by all. He is no longer in pain and is definitely having a cold beer right now while looking down upon us. Cheers to you, Jimmy! Bye Pop, We Love You!
