James Lawrence Woolford's Obituary
James Lawrence “Larry” Woolford, Sr. formerly of Federalsburg, MD passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Bayridge Health Care in Annapolis. He was 73.
He was born on January 22, 1941 in Centreville, MD, the son of the late James Briscoe Woolford and Ethel Marie Usilton Woolford.
He had served six years with the Maryland National Guard . Larry was very proud of his Indian Heritage and was known as “Chief Standing Bear”. He was past national vice chief for the Metis Nation of the United States and a member of the Alouette Metis Association of Canada of Vancouver, British Columbia. He was a charter member and first president of the Full Gospel Businessman Fellowship in Easton. He previously owned and operated Eastern Shore Body Shop and God’s Good News Bookstore both in Easton.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Betty A. Towers Woolford, two daughters, Jennifer Benhoff and her husband, Dave of Virginia, Kathleen Woolford of Oxford and her fiancé Ryan McCormick of Easton, a stepson, Joseph P. Smith, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Hurlock, a mother-in-law, Elizabeth Towers of Denton, two daughters-in-law, Kristine Dumlao-Norman of Maryland and Tanya Woolford, five grandchildren, Michael, Ethan, Hannah, Ella, and Kira, two sisters, Gerie Fleetwood of St. Michaels and Shirley Fowler of Trappe. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three children, Rachel Elizabeth Norman, James L. Woolford, Jr. and Paul David Norman.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg. Interment will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in Hillsboro. A visitation will be held at the funeral home 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
