James Dryden Payne, Sr.'s Obituary
James Dryden Payne, Sr. of Rhodesdale, MD, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Envoy Health Care in Denton, MD. He was 74 years old.
He was born Feb. 15, 1936 in Eldorado, MD the son of the late Minnie Brinsfield Payne and Gilbert Payne, Sr.
He was a graduate of Hurlock High School Class of 1954 where he was known for his athletic ability. He was a grain, poultry and truck farmer, and was an avid hunter and sports enthusiast. He was a past member of the former Eldorado United Methodist Church, and had been a member of the Dorchester County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by two children, James D. Payne, Jr. and his wife Donna of Rhodesdale, and Jennifer Payne Morton and her husband Brett of East New Market, MD, five grandchildren Jessica Payne, Ashley Payne, Colin Payne, Brooke Morton and Jake Morton; a brother Charles Everett Payne and his wife Charlotte, of Cambridge, MD, a sister Hester Marquardt of Seaford, DE, former wife Elois Payne of East New Market, special friend Kay Hoffman, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Donald Payne, Gilbert Payne, Jr., Rayford Payne, Manship Payne, and William Payne.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. Delmer Willey officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wed. from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be private.
