Janice A. Stanley's Obituary
Janice Adele Taylor Stanley, known fondly as “Jan” of Preston passed away at UMSMC at Easton on Sunday, May 11, 2014. She was 53.
She was born on April 17, 1961 in Salisbury, the daughter of the late Claude and Sylvia Taylor.
She graduated from Lighthouse Christian Academy class of 1979. She continued her education at Chesapeake College and received her AA Degree in Business & Management Technology in 1995. She was an agriculture farmer and was the fourth generation to take care of her family’s farm in which farming was her passion. She started out farming as Taylor Brothers, which was a partnership between Claude and Wesley Taylor and later she and her father started Sheltering Arms Farm and continued farming until her death. She was a former member of the Preston and Grasonville Volunteer Fire Companies and the Caroline County Farm Bureau. She also previously had worked for Dawkins Markets Bakery & Catering know known as “Docs” and also for ten years worked for Grills on Wheels owned by “Butch” Frase. Jan was a records transcriber for Shore Surgical with Dr. Gieske and Dr. Bysshe. She along with her father helped build Bethlehem Wesleyan Church and regularly attended the church as well. Her hobbies included quilting, traveling, camping, riding motorcycles, boating, and her favorite team was the Baltimore Orioles. Jan loved the log cabin that she and her husband built.
She is survived by her husband, David W. Stanley, her beloved dogs, Shelby and Sierra, and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Framptom Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Thomas, Sr. officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. and from 12-1 on Saturday. Interment will follow at Jr. Order Cemetery in Preston with a reception to follow at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church.
