Jean F. Davis' Obituary
Jean F. Davis of Choptank passed away on Friday, October 9, 2009 at The Pines in Easton. She was 80.
She was born in Easton, MD on November 22, 1928 the daughter of the late Harlan Franklin Davis, Sr. & Nellie Lee Hughes Davis.
She graduated from Preston High School with the class of 1946. She attended the former Salisbury State School for a year before graduating from Church Home Hospital School of Nursing. She taught nursing at the University of Hawaii and later became operating room supervisor at Church Home Hospital. Later she retired as nursing supervisor at North Charles Hospital. She was one of the oldest members of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Preston. She enjoyed hunting, gardening, and boating. She also enjoyed flying and had her own pilot’s license.
She is survived by a brother, Harlan Davis and his wife, Anita of Preston, a sister Betty Lowe and her late husband Bill Lowe of Bethesda, two nephews, Steve Lowe of Poolesville, and John Davis of Preston, three nieces, Diane Jocham of Gaithersburg, Nancy Johnson of Preston, Jennifer Rickwood of Preston and two close friends Mary Easter of Baltimore and Polly Hesterberg of Bel Air, MD. She was preceded in death by a sister Phyllis Davis Fluharty of Preston.
A funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethesda United Methodist Church in Preston with the Reverend Joan Wolff officiating. Interment will follow in Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Serving as pallbearers will be James Phelps, Eddie Phelps, Roger Schmick., Russell Dukes, Roger Willoughby, Samuel Clark Harrison, Jr. and Morgan Bennett.
