Jeanne S. Smith's Obituary
Easton: Jeanne Spencer Smith of Easton, MD. died at University of MD. Shore Medical Center, Easton, on Sunday November 27, 2022. She was 95.
Born on November 24, 1927 in Easton she was the daughter of the late Charles T.A. Spencer and Clara Wade Spencer. After graduating from St. Michaels High School in 1944 she worked for the Campbell Ensor Advertising Company, Easton, MD until 1947. She then worked for Gulf Oil Corporation District Office, Easton, until 1951 and again from 1957 to 1964. She then took a position at the Memorial Hospital, Easton in 1964 as Administrative Secretary to the Director of Nursing Service/ School of Nursing where she worked until retiring in 1989. She was a member of Professional Secretaries International and earned the title of Secretary of the Year in 1987 for this District.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her children; Susan Smith (John Baumann) of Scandia, MN. Russell Smith III (Linda) of Easton, MD and Sylvia Smith Carroll (David) of Cordova MD; Five Grandchildren; Justin Smith, Isaac Smith, Jamie Smith, Spencer Carroll, and Patrick Carroll, Two Great-grandchildren; Wren and Zion. Nieces; Chris Harrison Dorset, Laura Lee Mulvaney, and Dora Virginia Vogt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband; Russell Smith, Jr, whom she married on October 2, 1948, he died in 2013.
Her primary interest was her family. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother. Music was always a part of her life. She enjoyed tennis, playing the piano, and accordion. Sewing was another interest. She made clothing for her children when they were small and following retirement quilts for each member of her family. Russell and Jeanne traveled the United States and Canada extensively in their travel trailer.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday January 3, 2023 at 11:00AM at St. Marks United Methodist Church, Easton, MD. where friends may call from 10:00AM until 11:00AM.
Burial will be private.
