Jeffrey Stephen Hallowell's Obituary
Jeffrey Stephen Hallowell "Jeff" of Federalsburg passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 surrounded by his loving family at Tidal Health Nanticoke Hospital in Seaford, Delaware. He was 76.
He was born on June 22, 1949 in Easton, Maryland; the son of the late William Robert Hallowell, Sr., and Margaret Williamson Hallowell.
He grew up in Federalsburg, Maryland and graduated from North Dorchester High School with the class of 1967. He enlisted in the United States Navy from 1968-1972. He served for 4 years on the USS Lexington then 2 years in the Naval Reserve.
He returned home and went back to work at Continental Can in Hurlock, Maryland. He held many different jobs from State vehicle inspector, truck driver, and car salesman at Preston Ford; but made his lengthy career as a millwright. He worked many years at E.I. Dupont for construction companies Fluor, Mundy and Potts.
He was married on October 7, 1995 to Wanda Messick Nichols and they made their home in Federalsburg.
He was a member of Nanticoke Lodge A.F. & A.M #172, Life member of the Federalsburg VFW Post 5246 Auxiliary, American Legion Post 243 in Hurlock, Maryland, Moose Lodge In Seaford, Delaware, Marshyhope Rod and Gun Club, Nanticoke Senior Center, Seaford Delaware and PBYC Hurlock, Maryland. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing off his boat with family and friends. He loved being on the water where he described it as very relaxing and peaceful. He also enjoyed traveling up and down the East coast on his Harley with family and friends from Key West, Florida to Madawaska, Maine, and piddling in his garage. He loved to spend time with family, friends and his beloved German Shepherds.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Wanda Messick Hallowell of Federalsburg; a daughter Heather Williamson and her husband Michael, a special granddaughter Megan Willey and her husband Corey, great grandsons Cash Willey and Case Willey all of Federalsburg. He is also survived by additional grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Shane Hallowell and a stepson from a previous marriage John "Jay" Jones, Jr. and two brothers Donald "Big Don" Hallowell and William "Bill" Hallowell, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 11:00 at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Pastor Bob Davis will officiate. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00.
