Jessie Wayne Warren's Obituary
Jessie 'Wayne' Warren passed away peacefully at home August 6, 2024 after a long fought battle with Alzheimer's disease.
He was born April 25, 1952 to Jessie Harold and Annie Mae Warren in Batesburg, SC. After graduating from Batesburg-Leesville High School in 1970 he went on to briefly study Radio and TV Broadcasting at Bob Jones University where he ultimately worked on staff for many years, and met his wife Mary Lou (Bender) Warren. They were married in 1978 and welcomed a daughter Heidi in 1987. In 1985 Wayne began his 32 year long career as a truck driver until he retired in 2017. In his spare time he loved to take train excursions and enjoyed sharing his love for music with others. He dedicated much of his time to his local church including tasks like mowing the grass, leading hymns, and singing in the choir. While he lived most of his life in his native South Carolina, he spent his final years in Delaware.
Wayne is predeceased by his parents Jessie and Annie Mae Warren and sister Linda Padgett. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou, daughter Heidi (Randal), grandchildren Mason and Lindsay, brother Billy Warren (Debbie), and brother in law Don Padgett. He will also be greatly missed by many other in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held at Tressler Mennonite Church at 13371 Wolf Rd, Greenwood DE. Recieving of friends will be Sunday August 11th 3pm - 5pm. Celebration of Life will be Monday August 12th at 11:00 with burial to follow at Tressler Mennonite Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tressler Mennonite Church at PO Box 2014 Greenwood, DE 19950.
