Dr. John H. Swann passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013at the TalbotHospice House, he was 84. Known as “Jack” to his friends and family, he is survived byhis wife of 58 years, Carolyn Joan Swann, son John W. Swann, granddaughters Shelbyand Bailey Swann, all of St. Michaels, and his niece Karen Biehn of Alexandria, VA. Born in Baltimore on October 8, 1928, he was the son of Harvey Swann andKathryn Whiteford Swann. Dr. Swann moved to St. Michaels in 1961 where hepracticed dentistry for 50 years, retiring in 2011. He was a Past Master of GraniteLodge, Past Commodore of the Miles River Yacht Club, past member of the St.Michaels Rotary Club and Harbortowne Gofl Club. An avid golfer, he also enjoyedhunting, fishing and flying. He served 2 years in the U.S.Army as an MP from 1951-52.He was well known as a “big story teller” and his humerous tales entertained everyonehe knew. A Masonic Service will be held at the Ostrowski Funeral Home in St. Michaels onSaturday, February 16 at 2PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, MD 21601.
