John P Thomas' Obituary
John Phillip Thomas of Federalsburg passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Mallard Bay Care Center in Cambridge, Maryland. He was 59.
He was born on January 12, 1955 in Chestertown, Maryland, the son of the late Samuel Preston Thomas and Lindy Mary Hammond Thomas.
A father to many, John claimed those he cared about as his own children. He worked as a welder at Valley Irrigation and later was an auto mechanic at A&R Sales in Federalsburg for 16 years. He enjoyed delivering potatoes and strawberries to area families and always volunteered at the area food bank to help those in need.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Bennett Thomas of Federalsburg; six children, Katie Palmer and her husband Josh, Amanda Thomas Smith and her husband K.T., Shawn Thomas, Mary Thomas, Vanessa Clough, and Phillip Clough and his wife Brittany all of Federalsburg; his niece/daughter, Heaven Wissemen of Federalsburg; ten grandchildren, Devon, Wyatt, Alayna, Ariez, Zaren, Gunner, Sean, Junior, Kayla, Chanler and Aleya; a sister, Debora Thomas of Seaford, DE; a brother, Douglas “Dickie” Thomas and his wife Cathy of Ellendale, DE; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and a close friend he loved like a sister, Norma Willey of Seaford.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Rebecca Eaton, David Thomas, Sr., and William Thomas.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 2:00 at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Reverend Darrel Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Bloomery Cemetery near Smithville. The
family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 and from 1:00 to 2:00 on Sunday.
