John William Robertson, Sr.'s Obituary
John William Robertson, Sr. of Federalsburg, known as “Sweet William” passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at The Pines- Genesis Health in Easton. He was 89.
He was born on January 14, 1922 in Baltimore, MD, son of the late Jack Robertson and Mary Clark Robertson. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-eight years, Isabelle Christopher Robertson on October 16, 2008.
He served his country during World War II in the United States Army in which he received the Purple Heart. He retired from Maryland Plastics in Federalsburg as a die cutter after forty-two years of service. He was an avid bowler.
He is survived by two children, Carol L. Ruark and her husband John of Federalsburg, Timothy E. Robertson of Scottsdale, AZ, nine grandchildren, Joni Garvey, Robin Robertson, Lori Colby, Kevin Robertson, Peggy Fraser, who was his best friend, Matt Robertson, Patricia Ruark, Christopher Robertson, John Ruark, Jr. and several great-grandchildren, and a daughter-in-law Carol Robertson of Berlin. He was preceded in death by a son, John W. Robertson, Sr.
A committal service will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery with military honors. Rev. Denzil Cheek will be officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 99, Federalsburg, MD, 21632.
