Joseph Edward Bailey's Obituary
J. Edward Bailey of Greenwood, Delaware passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2023 at Delaware Hospice in Milford, DE. He was 89.
He was born on October 26, 1932 in Deposit, New York, the son of the late Joe E. and Marie Hallengren Bailey.
He graduated from Bridgeville High School in 1951. He married Shirley Zott on August 29, 1953. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2021.
He had a very strong work ethic, having been in the dairy and poultry farming business until his retirement. He served six years as a director of the Delmarva Poultry Industry, was a member of the Delaware Farm Bureau and a member of Crossroad Community Church where he served as an usher and a greeter.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kevin E. Bailey of Greenwood.
He is survived by a son, Jeffrey M. Bailey and his wife Mary; a daughter-in-law, Darlene P. Bailey; four grandchildren: Michael J. Bailey and his wife Kelly, Jonathan M. Bailey and his wife Erika, Joseph E. Bailey and his wife Elizabeth, and Jennifer Satchell and her husband Cameron; six great-grandchildren: Harper A. Bailey, Harleigh E. Bailey, Axle K. Bailey, Hunter J. Bailey, Olivia M. Satchell and Elena A. Satchell.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown. Interment will follow at Bloomery Cemetery in Smithville, near Federalsburg. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00 prior to the start of the service.
