Joseph A., Jr. Dupree's Obituary
Joseph A. Dupree, Jr. of Hurlock passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at his home. He was 81.
He was born on May 3, 1928 in Queens, NY, the son of the Joseph A. Dupree, Sr. and Martha Weppler Dupree.
He served his country during the Korean War by enlisting in the United States Army. Following his war time, he became a certified diesel and automobile mechanic. He was a fireman for the Oceanside Fire Department in Long Island, NY where he had served as former captain and also a member of the “Exempts”. He was a past member of the Hurlock American Legion. He was a wood worker who also enjoyed traveling, gardening, fishing, spending time with his family, and his cats and dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Tylee Dupree, five children, Virginia Dupree of Oceanside, Long Island, Joseph Dupree, III, of Florida, Deborah Dupree of Reliance, Cheryl Dupree Shahan of Hurlock, Edward Dupree, Sr. of Federalsburg, 14 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Framptom Funeral Home with Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating. Interment will follow at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
