Joseph Henry "Joe" Hubbert's Obituary
Joseph Henry “Joe” Hubbert died at his home in Federalsburg on Sunday, January 29, 2012. He was 73.
He was born on October 17, 1938 near Federalsburg the son of the late Edgar Joseph Hubbert who died in 1978 and Sara Payne Hubbert who died in 2003.
He graduated in 1957 from North Dorchester High School. He later entered the U S Army where he served in the infantry from 1961 to 1963. He was a farmer for many years before retiring from Tri-Gas and Oil in Federalsburg where he was a fuel truck driver.
He was a member and past Commander of Federalsburg V F W Post 5246. He was a former member of Seaford Moose Lodge Number 1728 and Idlewild Ruritan Club in Federalsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret L. Tjaden Hubbert who he married on November 18, 1972, a daughter, Chris N. Bell of Federalsburg, a granddaughter, Nicole L. Bell of Federalsburg and her friend, Barry Hastings of Seaford, , a brother-in-law Alan Sherman of Hurlock, a niece, Christine Sherman; a nephew Keith Sherman and his wife Karen; and great nieces, Sara and Mike Bowdoin, Rebecca Sherman and Mary Sherman. His sister, Carolyn Sherman preceded him in death in 2003.
Funeral services for him will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2012 at Framptom Funeral Home, P. A. in Federalsburg with the V F W State Chaplain Rev. Ron James officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and also on Friday from 10 – 11:00 a.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be: David Bell, Danny Nickerson, Danny Bland, Steve Dietrich, Richard Wilson and Chip Davis. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Chris Massey.
The family has requested that donations be made in his memory to Caroline Hospice Foundation P. O. Box 362 Denton, MD 21629.
