Joyce Faye Armes' Obituary
Joyce Faye (Porter) Armes passed away peacefully at her home in Federalsburg where she was surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 21, 2024. She was 81 years old.
Born on December 18, 1943 in Hickman, Maryland, Joyce was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mabel (Torbert) Porter. She was educated in the local schools and graduated from high school in 1962. Joyce later married Chester Armes, Sr. on July 30, 1976, and they made their home in Federalsburg.
Joyce worked for many years at Sisk Fulfillment. In her free time she loved to watch the birds that visited her feeders. Among her favorites were hummingbirds. Joyce was well known for the delicious cakes she baked, and the love she had for her family. She will be deeply missed.
Besides her husband Chester, Joyce is survived by her two daughters Shelley Sherman (Teddy) and Stacie Armes; her son Chester Armes, Jr. (Rachel); her grandchildren Justin Ray Sherman, Peyton Lee Mitchell and Brooklynn Rae Mendes; her brother Clarence Edward Porter; her "adopted grandchildren" Twyla Armstrong and Kaylee Jester; and her beloved Chihuahua and protector Princess.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter Courtney Lynn Sherman.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Concord Cemetery outside of Federalsburg starting at 11am. Pastor Keith Colona will officiate.
