Joyce R. Jones
Wittman, Joyce Roach Jones of Wittman, died at the Memorial Hospital, Easton, on Monday, July 9, 2012. She was 87. Born in Crisfield, MD. On October 23, 1924, she was the daughter of the late William and Beatrice Morgan Roach. After attending public school, she in 1942 married Ray J. Jones. While Mr. Jones worked at the Cox Distributing Co., and later as an Easton Police officer, Mrs. Jones was devoted to her family. In the early 1950’s they moved to Wittman, where Mr. Jones began an oyster business, this escalated into a full time seafood processing plant, Ray J. Jones Seafood Co. which he and his family operated from 1966 until its closing in 1989. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Wittman, MD. In addition to her husband of 70 years, Mrs. Jones is survived by a son; Rodney W. Jones and his wife JoAnn , one daughter-in-law Betty Jones, all of Wittman, six Grandchildren; Troy Jones, Shannon Jones, Kim Bryan, Tammy Swartz, Kristen, and Zachary, seven Great-Grandchildren; Logan, Lexi, Cade, Jake, Caleb, Ronnie Lee and Sadie. Also survived by two sisters; Lorraine Lankford of Crisfield and Shirley Thomas also of Crisfield. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son; Ray J. Jones Jr. a Great Grandson; Josh Bryan, and 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Services will be private. Arrangements are by the Hurley & Ostrowski Funeral Home P.A. St. Michaels. (for on-line condolences .
