Joye Elizabeth McPeake's Obituary
Joye Elizabeth McPeake, known fondly to many as “Nana” of East New Market passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. She was 92 years old.
She was born on July 19, 1920 in Huffman, Arkansas, daughter of the late
John Harmon Adams and Nancy Annie Elizabeth Giles. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Rev. Granville David McPeake.
She graduated from Armorel High School class of 1937. She continued her education at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cambridge, MD and a member of the Women’s Missionary Union of Maryland and the Baptist Convention of Maryland.
She is survived by a son, David H. McPeake and his wife, Patricia of Wilmore, KY, her daughter, Angela McPeake Gebert and her husband, Thomas of East New Market, MD, three grandchildren, SGT. Jonathan Whitaker of Honolulu, Hawaii, Adam Whitaker, Angela Bozman and her husband, Carson of all of East New Market, MD, a great grandson, Zachary Bozman, and a sister, Frances Tate of Summit, MS. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles L. Adams.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, at 501 Glenburn Avenue, in Cambridge, MD. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
