Karen Bremer Chatham's Obituary
Karen Bremer Chatham went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 29,2026. She was surrounded by her family at her current home in Delmar, DE at the time of her passing. She was 78 years old.
A longtime resident of Preston, Maryland, Karen was born August 14, 1947 in Orlando, Florida to the Rev. Fredrick and Ruth (Trask) Bremer. Following high school, she went on to earn a diploma in nursing at Peninsula General Hospital in Salisbury, MD. On December 19, 1970 Karen married Stanley "Ric" Chatham whom she had met while he was serving in the Navy. Together they madee their home in Pennsylvania and then on the Eastern Shore where they raised their daughters Katherine "Katie" and Valerie.
Karen was employed for several years at Brandywine Hospital in Pennsylvania and when they moved to the Eastern Shore, she continued her career at what was formerly known as Easton Memorial Hospital. She was a mentor and friend to many.
In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Known for her beautiful voice Karen sang with the Easton Choral Arts Society and in the church choir. Playing with her six grandchildren brought Karen much joy, and her love for children caused her to be active in the Right to Life movement and as a volunteer at Choices Pregnancy Center. Karen's faith in God was the center of her life and she was a dedicated member of the Talbot Bible Church in Easton.
Left to mourn Karen is her husband Ric Chatham; her daughters Katherine "Katie" Ward (Kevin)and Valerie Cox (Bryan); her grandchildren Dylan Ward, Connor Ward, Brielle Ward, Abigail Ward, Luke Cox and Jacob Cox; her sister Janice Miller (Jimmy); and her brother Mark Bremer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother David Bremer.
A memorial service will be held at Talbot Bible Church in Easton, Maryland on Saturday, May 9, 2026 starting at 11am. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the start of the service. Contributions in Karen's memory may be made to Talbot Bible Church, 9114 Chapel Rd., Easton, MD 21601.
