Karen Hopkins' Obituary
Karen Frances Kellam Hopkins of Milton, DE, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Bebee Medical Center in Lewes, DE. She was 54.
She was born on March 19, 1957 in Milford, DE, daughter of the late George Thomas Kellam and Margaret Sarah Rayfield Kellam.
She graduated from Laurel High School class of 1975. She was a dedicated employee for E.I. DuPonts in Seaford, DE for over twenty-seven years as a BCF spinning operator. She was a member of Faith, Hope, and Love Christian Fellowship in Milford, DE. Karen loved playing Yahtzee, pinochle, bowling, and softball. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived her husband, Melvin L. Hopkins, Jr. whom she married July 11, 1998, three children, Natasha “Love” Kellam of Laurel, Melisa “Lissy” Kellam, Lenear “Boo” Kellam of Laurel, seven grandchildren, Jermel Smith, Jr., Lenear Kellam, II, Jamia Kellam-Brown, Sarah Kellam-Brown, Lenijah Garrison, Selaya Garrison, and Jairdan Garrison, a brother, Merman T. Kellam of Smyrna, a sister, Zina Kellam of Laurel, and a host of nieces, and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Vantrina Kellam.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at United Deliverance Bible Center, Rt. 9, 1208 County Seat Highway, Laurel at 1 p.m. with Bishop Ralph Harmon officiating. The family will receive friends at Faith, Hope, & Love Christian Fellowship at 218 North Rehoboth Blvd., Milford on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and 11-1 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at United Deliverance Bible Center in Laurel.
