Kathie Diane DeGroat's Obituary
Kathie Diane DeGroat of Rhodesdale, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Coastal Hospice on the Lake following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 73 years old.
Born in New York State on May 2, 1950 she was the only daughter of the late Donald and Patricia Roach. She graduated from Junction City High School in Junction City, Kansas. It was in Junction City that she met her future husband Rodger DeGroat. After they married he brought Kathie to his home on the Eastern Shore which then became their home.
Kathie worked at numerous manufacturing jobs during her life. She spent the longest time at Solo Cup in Federalsburg where she retired as a plate manager. Kathie was briefly a member of the Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Company Auxillary. In her free time she liked to travel and see new places. Her favorite destination was Florida, but only if it meant traveling by car; Kathie was not one to go by plane.
Left to mourn the loss of Kathie are her husband Rodger; her daughter Wendy Pleasants (T.R.); her granddaughters Allison Pleasants and Madison Pleasants; her great-granddaughter Romilly Lane; her brother-in-law Terry DeGroat (Liz); and her sister-in-law Donna DeGroat; as well as her nieces and nephews.
Kathie was preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law Helen and Ruben DeGroat; and her brother-in-law Kevin DeGroat.
Services for Kathie will be private and at the convenience of her family.
