Kathy Darlene Jones' Obituary
Kathy Darlene (Waller) Jones, age 72, of Blades, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
Born on September 21, 1952, in Seaford, Delaware, Kathy was the beloved daughter of the late Samuel and Irene (Thomas) Waller. A proud graduate of Seaford High School, Class of 1970, Kathy lived a full and vibrant life rooted in the communities of Seaford, Federalsburg, and Blades.
Kathy was a dedicated and hardworking woman who began her professional life at W.O. Covey, Inc. in Seaford, and later spent nearly four decades at Burris Logistics in Federalsburg, Maryland where she was known as the "Queen Bee," retiring in 2018. Her work ethic and loyalty were unmatched, and she leaves behind colleagues who remember her fondly for her kindness and sense of humor.
In October of 1975, she married Edward "Eddie" Jones of Federalsburg. Though they later divorced, their union brought Kathy her greatest joy in life-her son, David Jones of Glen Burnie, Maryland. Kathy was endlessly proud of David, her only child and the light of her life. She often shared stories about him and his many travels with her friends and always spoke of him with pride and deep affection.
Kathy had a spirited personality and a warm, generous heart. She had a deep love of bluegrass music, especially the works of Rhonda Vincent and The Gaither Vocal Band, and could often be found tapping her feet at shows at the A. Curtis Andrew Auction Barn. She also cherished the memories of attending country music concerts at Sunset Park in Chester County, Pennsylvania, where she had the joy of meeting one of her favorite artists, Ricky Skaggs. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life-scrolling Facebook, watching her favorite TV shows like Blue Bloods, Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, and The Young and the Restless, and savoring Eastern Shore delicacies like muskrat and steamed crabs.
A devoted Baltimore Orioles fan, Kathy took great joy in cheering on her team-whether from the stands or from the comfort of her living room. She also delighted in long country drives in her beloved Honda Civic, which remarkably logged nearly half a million miles over the years. She loved shopping on QVC, taking day trips to Elliott Island to reconnect with her family roots, and making special memories on visits to the Sight and Sound Theatre in Ronks, Pennsylvania.
Kathy's home was shared with her faithful feline companion, Skippy, who was as much a part of her heart as any family member. Known to playfully fuss at him with affection, their bond was endearing and constant.
In her later years, Kathy was lovingly supported by her sister Vickie Waller of Seaford, Delaware. Vickie was not only a sister but a true caregiver and friend, offering unwavering love and companionship. Their bond was a source of strength and comfort to Kathy in every season of her life.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Irene Waller, as well as her sister's lifelong companion, Paul Sipple of Seaford, Delaware. She is survived by her devoted son, David Jones; her loving sister, Vickie Waller; her cherished cat, Skippy; and a host of extended family and dear friends. Among those especially close to her were Alan Rzepkowski of Pasadena, Maryland, and Justin Lien of Horace, North Dakota, whom she loved like sons. All will deeply miss her humor, warmth, and unforgettable spirit.
Kathy's life was one of quiet strength, deep love, and meaningful connections. Her legacy lives on in those who loved her-and in the many small joys she taught us to treasure every day.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg. The Reverend Marie Coulbourn will officiate. Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Seaford. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00.
