Katie Elzey Crandell's Obituary
Katie E. Crandell, 81, of Federalsburg, MD passed away on Saturday October 19, 2013 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Maryland. She was 81.
She was born in Cambridge, MD on December 28, 1931 to the late Robert L. And Della Wroten Elzey, one of fourteen children.
On July 20, 1953 she married the late Adelbert F. “Wes” Crandell who passed away on May 31, 1991.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Denton for more than 35 years. She taught Sunday School, hosted and directed with many church dinners and served in the children’s ministry watching children.
She is survived by two daughters Deborah D. Elmore and her husband Mark of Preston, MD, Bonnie S. Crandell of Millsboro, DE; five grandchildren, Steven W. Crandell Jr. of Federalsburg, Christopher L. Crandell of Baltimore, MD, Heather A. Milligan of Federalsburg, Matthew Elmore of Preston and William W. Arthur of Seaford, DE; sixteen great-grandchildren; five sisters, Sallie Crandell of Baltimore, Doris Marshall of Hudson, Joyce Horseman of Madison, Brenda Willey of East New Market, Peggy Horseman of Madison, a brother Elwood Elzey of Madison and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son Steven W. Crandell, Sr. who passed away on May 4, 1993, a grandson Mark H. Elmore, Jr. of Preston who passed away on June 24, 2008, three brothers, Johnny Elzey, Robert L. Elzey and Calvin Elzey, four sisters, Louise Eskridge, JoAnne Elzey, Ruth Lankford and Lucille Barnes.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2013 at Framptom Funeral Home, Federalsburg, MD with the Reverend Don Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock, MD. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Pallbearers we be Matthew Elmore, Steven Crandell, Jr., William Arthur, John Taylor, Skyler Wockenfuss and Mark Elmore, Sr.
