Kenneth F Stough's Obituary
Kenneth F. Stough went to be with his Lord on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at his home in Easton, MD. He was 93 years old. Ken was born in Wellsville, PA on September 12, 1930, the son of the late E. Lynn Stough and Nettie Irene Grove Stough. He grew up in the Dillsburg, PA area, eventually, teaching at Northern High School for 13 years. Ken graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Millersville State University, a Master's degree from Penn State University and obtained a PHD from the University of Maryland with a major in education and minor in statistics.
After finishing his PHD, Ken spent his career as a professor and department head in the Industrial Arts Department at the University of Maryland. He retired to Easton, MD in 1993 after 27 years at the University of Maryland. He was a lifelong active church member at Barrens Church, Hillandale Baptist Church, Berwyn Baptist Church, and First Baptist Church in Easton. Ken was a devout Christian who studied the Bible daily and taught God's Word in many places. In his retirement years, he participated in the Gideon ministry and Prison Fellowship.
Ken was an educator; apparent in every aspect of his life. Whether he was teaching a Sunday school class, conducting a high school demonstration, a college research project or changing the brake pads on a car with his son, son-in-law or grandson, his approach was always to educate an understanding of how things worked and why. He enjoyed spending time outdoors; boating, fishing, hunting, camping, and gardening. He loved being in God's creation.
He was devoted to his wife and family; relishing his time with them. He sought and made opportunities to foster family experiences and relationships. He took to heart his responsibility to love and nurture.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Doris L. Stough (2020) and was blessed with four children, Dennis Stough and his wife Laura of Laurel, MD, Kendra Stough Darnell and her husband, Brian of Annapolis, MD, Elaine Stone and her husband, Rev. James Stone of Richmond, VA and Edward J. Stough and his wife Susan of Milton, DE; eight grandchildren, Rev. Aaron Stone and his wife Missy, Jesse Stone and his wife Brooke, Kyle Stough and his wife Mandy, Trevor Stough, McKenzie Wax and her husband Blair, Briana Jatlow and her husband Ben, Kelsey Moran and her husband Patrick, and Olivia Guymon and her husband, Daniel. He is survived by sixteen great grandchildren: Emree, Charlee,and Henlee Stough, Spenser and Sullivan Jatlow, Tilghman and Dwyer Moran, Goldie Stone, Deacon, Sawyer, Justice and Indie Stone, Tommy, Joshua and Jacob Dent and Delaney Guymon. Ken is also survived by two sisters Evaline Fleming and Rogene Bentz and was preceded in death by a brother Lynn and 2 sisters Ruthanna Wareheim and Rosalee Stough.
Private interment with graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at New Fairview Church Cemetery in York, PA with Rev. James Stone officiating.
