Kevin L. Brummell II's Obituary
Kevin Leon “Quest” Brummell, II rolled out from here on Tuesday morning, July 14, 2015. He was 32 years old.
Kevin was born June 20, 1983, and was the son of Kevin and Cynthia Brummell.
He attended Preston Elementary School in his youth, then he attended Colonel Richardson High, where he helped the teachers learn that “if mom comes up here it won‘t be nothing nice.” He was a graduate of the Class of 2001. During his time here with us, He laughed, he worked, he played.
Some of the places he worked were Black & Decker (and yes he did hit that stop button!), Hanover Frozen Foods ( where he took his first break…left the break room… and kept on out to the parking lot. Enough was enough), Orion, the Hyatt in Cambridge and Chesapeake Publishing (formerly the Star-Democrat) where he was working until he was no longer able to. He used to say “I don’t go to work to make friends, I just do my work and get out of there”, but he would come home concerned about how the day had been and if someone wasn’t treated right.
Kevin always had a mystic about him. You never quite knew exactly who he was or what he was thinking. He enjoyed asking you the tough questions or challenging your mind about how you thought….like… “Is the sky really blue? or is that what the man wants you to think?”
Along with enjoying the History Channel, he enjoyed fishing, listening to and creating music, hanging with his boyz, playing chess, playing “Crash Test Dummy” with his “brother” Mike; competing seriously on the video games, collecting shoes and “hatz“, and caring for the kids among other things.
As a young child, and all through his life Kevin was a member of Ross Chapel AME Church. He may not have looked like he was listening to the sermon, but he would definitely quote it back to you to get his point across. His favorite scripture verse was: Jeremiah 29:11.
He leaves to to tell his story; his parents, Kevin and Cynthia Brummell of Denton, MD; one grandparent, Fred T. Brummell, Sr of Denton, MD; one sister, Sierra Brummell of Federalsburg, MD; two sons, Kayden and Karter of Hurlock; one aunt, Juanita Harmon (Theodore) of Denton; three uncles, Fred Brummell, Jr of Denton, Derick Brummell (Yvonne) of Preston, and Shelton Brummell of Denton ; one special cousin, Theo Harmon (Nancy) of Orange Park, FL; one special nephew, Markell of Federalsburg; an extended family…. Cheryl, Miss Sandra, De’Asia, Khie ‘Abra, Corey, Harmony, Adonis and Harlem all of Cambridge; and a whole other bunch of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, an awesome church family and his boyz he hung with.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Ross Chapel A.M.E. Church in Preston with Reverend Dr. Charles M. Walker officiating. A visitation with the family will be held at the church on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Ross Chapel A.M.E. Churchyard.
