Laura Janice Yowell's Obituary
Janice James Yowell of Tilghman, died at the University of Maryland Hospital, Easton on Tuesday August 5, 2025. She was 90.
Born on August 6, 1934 on Tilghman Island she was the daughter of the late Frank and Carrie James. Mrs. Yowell was a life-long resident of Tilghman she attended and graduated from St. Michaels High school in 1952. She married Paul Yowell in 1955, Mr. Yowell died in 2002.
She worked briefly at a Beauty Shop on Tilghman, then Tilghman Packing Co. She then took a position with Talbot County Public Schools where she worked for more than 30 years before retiring.
She is survived by her daughter; Paula Haddaway (Chip) of Tilghman, 3 Grandchildren; Megan Yowell of Preston, Brandon Haddaway (Dannette) of Tilghman, and Melissa Harding (Howard) of Greenwood, DE. 6 Great Grandchildren; Elijah, Lilly, Gracie, Bryson, Michaela, and Morgan. also survived by; her beloved daughter in law; Donna Yowell Baynard, a special niece; Sharon Harding of Wittman, and two special friends that were like family; Bobby Swietzer, and Lynne Haddaway. both of Tilghman. and her beloved cats; Misty & Millie. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son; Trooper First Class Michael Yowell, MSP who died in 1990, and a grandson Justin Haddaway 1989, and her brother; Frank James of Tilghman.
Funeral services will be held at the Tilghman Methodist Church on Tuesday August 12th at 12:00 noon. Where a viewing will be held from 11:00AM until noon.
Burial will be in the Tilghman Memorial Cemetery.
A reception will follow at the Tilghman Fire House.
Memorial donations will be made to the Tilghman Methodist Church 5731 Black Walnut Point Rd, Tilghman, MD 21671 or to the Tilghman Volunteer Fire Dept. Station 70, 5979 Tilghman Island Rd, Tilghman, MD 21671
