Lawrence Rowan's Obituary
Lawrence Bernard Rowan of Federalsburg passed away on February 27, 2012 at the Caroline Hospice in Denton, Maryland. He was 84.
He was born on December 31, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late James Patrick Rowan and Marie Morris Rowan.
He was raised in Queens, NY, and graduated from Astoria High School. He then joined the United States Navy and later became a Merchant Marine. On December 31, 1970, he married Nancy Watts Rowan. After he was discharged, he became an engineer with E.I. DuPont and retired in 1991.
He enjoyed working out and exercise; and especially loved being outdoors. He was an avid gardener and was a past member of the Federalsburg V.F.W Post #5246.
He is survived by two daughters, Nancy Beth Rowan and Laurie Anne Rowan both of Federalsburg, one grandson, Jaden Nathaniel Rowan of Federalsburg, a sister, Patsy McDowell and her husband Patrick of Carlisle, PA, a brother, Joseph Rowan of CT, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Watts Rowan, who preceded him in death on October 29, 2005, three brothers, Jerard Rowan, James Rowan and Robert Rowan; and three sisters, Naomie Rowan, Claire Nusel and Rose Clark.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 at Christ United Methodist Church in Federalsburg at 1:00p.m. The Reverend Karen Bongard will officiate. Interment will follow at the Eastern Shore Veteran’s Cemetery near Beulah. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Framptom Funeral Home, P.A., and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
