Leroy Blake Sr.'s Obituary
Leroy Blake, Sr. of Preston passed away at his home on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at his home. He was 81.
He was born on September 25, 1926, the son of the late Charles Albert Blake and Lydia Moaney Blake.
He was a farmer and also a trucker driver. He was a life member at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church in Preston where he served on the trustees board and sang in the Methodist Mens Choir. He loved to talk about the farm and enjoyed going fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie Sharpe Blake whom he married on February 8, 1947, five children, Delores Lake of Denton, Joanne Greene and her husband, Rufus of Washington, D.C. Joyce Hynson and her husband, Maurice, of Preston, Leroy Blake, Jr., of Stone Mountain, GA, Bruce Blake of Preston, 22 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Hester Dorsey, of Damacus, MD. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert Blake, John Blake, and Frederick Blake, and a sister, Alice Dobson.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church with Rev. Arthur George officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Preston. Friends may call at the church on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.
