Leroy Roscoe Johns' Obituary
Leroy Roscoe Johns of Preston died at Easton Memorial Hospital in Easton, MD on Sunday, September 28, 2008. He was 77.
He was born at Williamsburg, near Easton on March 29, 1931 the son of the late Edward Johns and Mary Brooks Johns. On January 27, 1953 he enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on January 25, 1955 earning the rank of Corporal.
He was employed at the feed mill in Hurlock while working for J. McKenny Willis, Con Agra and retired from Perdue Farms. He really enjoyed working in his garden.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Della F. Holland Johns whom he married on July 11, 1951 and three children, Ronald R. Johns and Maurice L. Johns, both of Seaford, DE and Deborah A. Johns of Preston, a grandson, Ronald Deshields, a great-granddaughter, Jayanna Brown, a sister Leona V. Freeman of Landover, MD, many nieces, nephews and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Calhoun of Washington, DC. He was preceded in death by a son, Arnold Lee Johns in 1975. A funeral is planned for Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church with the Reverend Arthur George officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Preston. Friends may call the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
