She was born on April 27, 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late James E. Mewshaw and Hazel Reinhardt Mewshaw.
She grew up in Elkridge, MD and attended Howard county schools. She married David Gentry and they built a beautiful life together. They shared a lifetime of love and spent every available moment together. They raised one daughter and eventually made their home on Tilghman Island. She was a homemaker and helped her son-in-law with his seafood business. There was nothing more important to her than her family and she loved spending time with them. She taught her family to value the smallest moments in life and she never let down the ones she loved. She had a zest for life and to feel her love was like sunshine on your face. Everyone she met was a friend and she had a way of making you feel like she had known you forever. She was an animal lover and was passionate about animal welfare. Her motto was to help those that could not help themselves. She supported various animal advocacy groups including Talbot County Humane Society.
She is survived by her husband David Gentry, daughter Maria Cummings and her husband Kevin all of Tilghman Island. Two sisters: Phyllis Bawroski of Bridgeville, DE and Jimmie Lee Hutchinson (Benjamin Scott) of Fredrica, DE. A special family member David Jayson Russell and his family.
