Linda F. White's Obituary
Linda Frederick White of Seaford passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Christiana Hospital. She was 74.
She was born on October 18, 1940 in Long Island, New York and was a daughter of the late Frank Frederick and Gladys Estelle Hopkins Frederick Parkyn.
Mrs. White graduated from Preston High School class of 1958. She continued her education at Wesley College and University of Maryland. Linda was a licensed Nurse Practitioner for the state of Maryland for thirty-five years. As a RN-CRNP, she was involved in the Nurse Practitioner Association of Maryland, Delaware, and the American Nurses Association. She was also a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and University of Maryland School of Nursing Alumni Association. She was an original organizer for getting Nurse Practitioners schooling on the shore. With her love of her job she won numerous awards for perfect attendance over 20 years.
Linda was very involved with the American Red Cross and was involved in disaster relief, always willing to help when called, along with being an instructor for Red Cross Relief volunteers, and took part in the National Nurses Committee for the Red Cross. She won several awards for her service with the Red Cross including the Clara Barton and Florence Nightingale awards.
Linda was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Federalsburg, the Tri County Longbeards, TOPS, and was the recording secretary for the Veterans Recognition Committee. She also enjoyed traveling all over the world with her family.
Linda’s greatest love was her family and she was truly was a devoted and loving wife and mother and took great pride in her children and grandchildren. She made her family members birthdays so very special and was also a loving and giving friend to so many. She also inspired her granddaughters to become part of the nursing field.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Franklin “Frank” Dew White, a daughter, Robbin Baker Kersey and her husband Bo, of Austin, TX, two sons, Mark Steven White and his wife Crystal, of Mardella, and David Allan White and his wife Kelly, of Queen Creek, AZ, five grandchildren, Caroline Baker, Harris Baker, Claire Baker, Ashlynn White, and Tara White, two half-sisters, June Frederick, of NY, and Kathy Gehring and her husband Harry of Gaithersburg, MD, and a half-brother, Chuck Frederick of Long Island, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a half-sister, Robin Parkyn and a half-brother, Jimmy Frederick.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with Minister Marie Coulbourne and Rev. James Michael officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Linda’s honor to Christ United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 234, Federalsburg, MD 21632.
