Lloyd M. Poole's Obituary
Lloyd M. Poole, of Federalsburg passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Caroline Nursing Home in Denton. He was 85 years old.
He was born on February 9, 1923, in Williamsburg, MD, the son of the late Roland Seth Poole and Velma C. Towers Poole. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Elliott Poole.
He attended schools in Dorchester county and worked on his family’s farm for several years in Williamsburg. In 1961, he and his family moved to Preston wherein he raised poultry as well as continued with his career in Agriculture. He operated greenhouses at Countryside Plants and Gifts in Preston. He was also a dairy farmer.
Mr. Poole was an Honorary member for fifty-five years of the Junior Order United American Mechanics in which he held many positions including president. He also was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Preston. He was a former member of the Easton Moose Lodge.
Mr. Poole was preceded in death by his wife of almost sixty years, Helen Elliott Poole, a daughter, Patricia A. Bandoch, her son, Michael, and an additional grandson, Chesley L. Hargraves, IV, who passed away on November 5, 1996.
Mr. Poole is survived by his sons, Ronald L. Poole of Laurel, Delaware, Teddy E. Poole of Preston, Gary M. Poole of Easton, and a daughter, Phyllis K. Matthai of Easton. He is also survived by the four grandchildren, Tina Kline, Sarah E. Poole, Tracey Poole, Alicia Greenhalgh , and six great-grandchildren, Joshua Messick, Andrew Messick, Colin Poole, Cloey Poole, Mason Greenhalgh, and Turner Greenhalgh.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 8, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg. Interment will follow at Junior Order Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
