Lois Regina Tyler's Obituary
Lois Regina (Dukes) Tyler, age 87 of Wittman, MD, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton.
Lois was born August 16, 1935 in Cambridge, MD, the daughter of the late William Herman Dukes and the late Hattie Belle (Lane) Dukes, and was the oldest of three children. The family would move to Easton where she met her husband of 48 years, Walter R (Pete) Tyler Jr. They were married shortly after she graduated from Easton High School on June 25, 1954.
Lois first worked as a volunteer at Easton's Memorial Hospital in the birthing center where she stayed with expectant mothers. Her genuine care and comfort was utilized by the hospital to help keep expectant mothers calm.
After marrying Walter, they moved to Wittman where they went into farming and raised four sons, Walter (Pete) III, John, James, and Henry (Joe). Eventually, the couple began their own construction company and after Walter's death in 2002, she became the President of Tyler Contracting Company. She decided it was time to retire at the age of 82 in 2017.
Lois was very adventurous and loved to travel. She planned trips for her and Walter and every trip ended with another funny story and became known as "Gullible's Travels". First and foremost, she loved family and spending time together with everyone especially on Christmas morning. Her favorite trips were their annual visit to their best friends in West Virginia .
Lois is survived by two brothers, William (Veronica) of Utica NY, and Robert (JoAnn) of Murfreesboro, TN; her four sons Walter (Barbara), John (Barbara), James (Karen) and Henry (Steven); seven grandchildren James Jr (Mandy), Harley (Kevin), Sara (Mike), Meghaan (Patrick), Chris (Ashlea), Jennifer (Sean), and Gregory; nine great grandchildren Clayton (Jordan), Colton, Cullen, Saylor, Kayce, Bennett, Brayden, Elaina, and Cole; and one great-great grandchild Taytum, who Lois met last fall.
Lois also leaves behind countless nieces and nephews, and one special friend Patricia Roe. You did not have to be related to become one of Lois's family. A cherished friend of a family member was considered family as well.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 7, 2023 , from 4-6pm at the Framptom Funeral Home-Ostrowski Chapel in St. Michaels, MD. Services will be Monday, May 8, 2023 at 11:30 am at the Sts. Peter and Paul Mission Church, 109 Lincoln Avenue, in St. Michaels, MD.
