Lorraine M. Shockley's Obituary
Lorraine Shockley, 87, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 21, 2015 at Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge, Md.
She was born on September 27, 1927 in Brookview, MD and was the daughter of the late William J. Milligan and Martha Wheatley Milligan.
Lorraine went to school in Dorchester County and graduated high school in Hurlock and was valedictorian of her class.
Lorraine loved to cook and one of her greatest joys was preparing a huge Christmas dinner for her family and birthday dinners too. She was also an accomplished seamstress and loved quilting, crewel work and crocheting. Any craft or sewing project that she attempted she excelled at and enjoyed. She made beautiful quilts, afghans and pictures. She worked at several different jobs in her life and her last job was in the Ladies department in Peebles in Seaford. She also attended Church for many years at Christ Church in Federalsburg and while living in Seaford at Concord Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Jeanette Taylor and husband Francis, her brother, William M. "Billy" Milligan and his wife Hazel and two nephews Barry and Mark Milligan of Brookview.
She is survived by her daughter Susan Meredith and husband Larry of East New Market. Two grandsons Todd Meredith and Lori of Salisbury and Ryan Meredith and his wife Hope of Hurlock. Five great grandchildren, Marina Ward, Brennan Meredith and Trevor Meredith of Salisbury and Lawsen and Owen Meredith of Hurlock. A nephew Layne Milligan and his family of Brookview and a very special niece, Karen Fishell and her husband Denny of Federalsburg.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. Dan Walker officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-1 p.m. Interment will follow at Brookview Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Meredith, Ryan Meredith, Denny Fishell, Layne Milligan, Brennan Meredith, Trevor Meredith and Frank Gerardi.
