Louis "Lukie" Wright Sinclair's Obituary
It is with joyful remembrance that we announce the passing of Louis Wright Sinclair, affectionately known as "Lukie", who left this world on July 9, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on October 15, 1948, in Maryland, he was the son of the late Archie Sinclair, Sr. and Anna Oneida Wright Sinclair. Lukie was a beacon of love, faith, and adventure throughout his life.
Lukie was a graduate of the class of 1966 from Colonel Richardson High School and then served his with the United States Army. Lukie was a devoted member of Living Waters Church for over a decade, where he cherished the fellowship and community that nurtured his spirit. Each morning, he dedicated time to reading his Bible, finding peace and guidance in its pages. He was a self-employeed contractor in the construction industry, displaying a strong work ethic and craftsmanship that left a lasting impact on his family and community.
An avid hunter and nature enthusiast, Lukie found joy in the great outdoors, where he could often be found tending to his beloved gardens, appreciating the trees and feeding his birds. His passion for storytelling brought smiles and laughter to those fortunate enough to gather around him, as he shared tales filled with humor and life lessons.
Lukie is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Bonnie Sinclair; their cherished children Kevin Sinclair and Angie Shortall (Bart); his grandchildren Megan Kosick (Joe) and Emily Shortall; and his sisters Neva Thomas (Will) and Alice Harden (Lonny), who will carry forward his legacy of love, joy, and connection to nature.
In addition to his parents, Lukie is preceded in death by his brothers Leslie Sinclair, Archie Sinclair, Jr. and Dennis Sinclair; and his sister Yvonne Statum.
We invite friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Lukie to celebrate his life. Funeral services will be held at Living Waters Church, where he worshiped, on July 15, 2026 at 12:00. The family will welcome guests for a time of visitation prior to the ceremony at 11:00, allowing for shared memories and reflections. Burial will take place at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston following the service. In this time of remembrance, we celebrate Lukie's unwavering spirit, his love for the outdoors, his deep faith, and the warmth he brought to our lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Lukie's honor to Compass Regional Hospice (160 Coursevall Drive, Centreville, MD 21617) or Living Water Assembly (9058 Double Hills Road, Denton, MD 21629). Together, let us honor and celebrate the wonderful life of Lukie, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
