Luther W. Gehring's Obituary
Luther W. Gehring of Federalsburg, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 8, 2007. He was 90 years old.
He was born at American Corner, near Federalsburg on November 2, 1916, son of the late John and Martha Kruger Gehring.
He had attended school at Friendship and Federalsburg High School. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corp from January 8, 1942 until he was honorably discharged on October 31, 1945.
He had previously worked for Nagel Feed Service, drove a bulk feed truck for Esskay, Sunshine Laundry, where he was known by customers as “Mr. Sunshine” and retired from M & L GMC in 1987. He liked hunting, fishing, and especially bowling and bowled in several leagues for more than fifty years.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Jeanette Christopher Gehring whom he married on October 22, 1948, two sons, James Gehring and his wife, Mary and Larry Gehring and his wife, Debbie, all of Federalsburg, two daughters, Bambi, Nichols and her husband, Bobby, Sr. of Federalsburg, Cathy VanSchaik and her husband, Dale of Denton, five grandchildren, Michele Bixler and her husband, Dave of Ridgely, Karie Nepert and her husband, Robbie of Federalsburg, April Venables and her husband, Dave of Laurel, DE, Chris Gehring and his wife, Yasuko of Centreville, VA, and Bobby Nichols, Jr. of Federalsburg, six stepgrandchildren, six great grandsons, Michael and Adam Lane, Derek and Dylan Nepert, Chase Venables, and Neal Gehring, fourteen step-great-grandchildren, one step-great-great grandson, a sister, Norma Lee Tice of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, two sisters-in-law, Ruth Christopher of Centreville, and Florence Gehring of Denton and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lou Ann Gehring, and six sisters, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. Howard “Buddy” Dunn officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Serving as pallbearers will be Ron Christopher, Greg Christopher, Bobby Nichols, Jr., Keith Davis, Ron White, and Chris Gehring.
