Magnolia Mifflin's Obituary
Magnolia M. Mifflin, known as “Maggie” passed away on Friday, Aug. 10, 2007 at the Harrison House Senior Living in Georgetown. She was 76.
She was born April 26, 1931 in Dover, DE, the daughter of the late Thomas and Rhonda Pettyjohn Mifflin.
She was a graduate of the Culinary Arts School at Del Tech in Georgetown and had been employed as chief cook by Lewes Headstart Center. She also owned a cleaning service and worked until she was 75. She was a member of the Burton Chapel AME Church in Milton, DE where she served as an usher for many years, was a member of the Stewardess Board, and was a Missionary.
She is survived by six children, Arlene Serrano of Georgetown, DE, Ranford Allen, Jr. of Lancaster, PA, Debra Weekes of Tampa, FL, Wanda Weston of Lewes, DE, Lorenzo Mifflin of Georgetown, Cynthia McCummings of NYC, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and an adopted daughter, Elizabeth Myers of Georgetown. She was preceded in death by two sons and a daughter, Bermis Mifflin, Travis Mifflin, and Vera Arroyo, and two sisters, Lena Gore and Laura Hubert.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 17, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Burton Chapel AME Church in Milton, DE with Rev. Jean Wylie officiating. Interment will follow in Old Hickory Cemetery in Lincoln, DE. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
