Mamie Legates Phillips' Obituary
Mamie Legates Phillips who was presently residing at William Hill Manor in Easton and lived for many years in Preston, died at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD on Monday, June 28, 2010. She was 86.
She was born on September 2, 1923 in Bethlehem, MD, the daughter of the late Roy M. Legates, Sr. and Cora Brodes Legates. Her husband, Clarence Wilson Phillips, Jr. preceded her in death on October 10, 2003.
She was a graduate of Preston High School, and was a member of the Community Club of Preston.
She is survived by a son, Dr. Larry W. Phillips and his wife, Dr.Joyce Kolb Phillips of LaGrange, IN son-in-law, Gary Chambers, and four grandchildren, Dr. Christine Mohler and her husband Kevin of Queen Creek, AZ, Michael Phillips and his wife Laura of Indianapolis, IN, 1st Lt. Mark Chambers and his wife Jen of Bel Air, MD, and Jennifer Chambers of Easton, MD, seven great-grandchildren, Justin, Lauren, Brandon, Brooke, Courtney, Madison and Jacqueline and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha L. Chambers and two brothers, Roy Legates, Jr. and James Legates.
Funeral services for her will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg, MD with Rev. Joan Wolff officiating. Interment will follow in Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from noon to 2:00.
