Margaret Hopkins' Obituary
Margaret E. Hopkins, also known as “Minie” of Hurlock, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Ruxton Health Center in Denton. She was 87.
She was born in Dorchester County, Maryland, the daughter of the late Wilbur Butler and Maggie Brown Butler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Hopkins on March 19, 1997. She had worked several years at Acme Cannery in Hurlock until they closed and then worked seasonal at Decceco Co. in Rhodesdale, and for Libby’s in Houston, DE. She was a member of Hurlock United Methodist Church. She served at Union Grove United Methodist Church with the Methodist Women for several years prior to the church merger. She loved singing and she would arrive at church before the choir to see them march up to the choir loft and sing. When you asked how she was doing, she would give you a smile aith a little strut or dance letting you know all was well with her. She is survived by her son, Jerome A. Hopkins, Sr. of Hurlock, a grandson, Jerome A. Hopkins, Jr. of Baltimore, a great-grandson, Malcomb Woolford of Columbus, Ohio, a great-aunt, Carrie Williams of Baltimore, and a step-sister, Evelyn Cook of Reading, PA. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Cephas.
