Margaret Isabel Sanders' Obituary
Margaret Isabel Sanders of Choptank, MD passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Memorial Hospital at Easton, MD. She was 91 years old.
She was born May 12, 1917 in Preston, MD the daughter of the late Roland Franklin Chambers and Mabel Estella Chambers. Her husband, James William Sanders, Sr. preceded her in death on Mar. 1, 1986.
She was a graduate of Preston High School class of 1934. Isabel was a homemaker and a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she served as the pianist for Sunday School, and was a member of the Women’s Society. She was a member of the following clubs, 20 Century Homemakers’ Club, Choptank Homemakers Club, and the Caroline County Republican Club. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed bird watching and gardening.
Isabel is survived by three children, James W. Sanders, Jr. and his wife Barbara, Ann Bateman and her husband J.C., and Richard Sanders and his wife, Janice, all of Preston, daughter-in-law, Marlene Sanders of Westminister, MD; 8 grandchildren, Carole S. Gurney, Scott Preston Sanders, Kimberly Roberta Sanders, Lisa Carroll, Jackie Gowe, Rex Bateman, Dan Sanders, and Donna Sanders; 14 great-grandchildren, Brandon Gurney, Bobby Heaps, Loren Heaps, Heather Wheatley, Katey Carroll, Hannah Gowe, Kendel Gowe, J.C. Bateman, Ellie McQuoid, Cameron McQuoid, Olivia Amtsberg, Ottilie Amtsberg, Ali Sanders, and Rae Sanders. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, John Harold Sanders, and 3 siblings, Kathleen Bullock, Esther League, and Harold Chambers.
Funeral services will be held on Sat. April 18, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bethesda United Methodist Church in Preston with Rev. Joan Wolff officiating. Interment will follow in Junior
Order Cemetery in Preston. Friends may call at the church from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
